Take 2: Technorati,

You know, it's kind of funny how much more conscious you are of spelling things correctly when you know that there's a possibility that a whole bunch of other people (who you don't know from Adam) are going to be reading what you've written. Okay.....onto business.......

Technorati - This seems to be a fairly useful kind of site. In the few minutes I spent having a quick stickybeak, I came across several blogs on highly interesting or unusual topics. I'll probably go back and take a more in-depth look at this site later on.
Features that stood out on first glance were:
  • Wide variety of subject categories
  • Easy-to-use/understand layout and search tools
  • Ability to search by specific media (ie. blogs, photos, video, etc.)
  • Abilitiy to see which sites are 'popular'
  • Plenty of help/support links to assist with getting the most out of the site.
  • Pretty colours ;-) (What?....I like green!!)

Okay, so it seems to me that setting up a blog is a lot like joining up to all those different social networking sites out there, except without all the games/applications/quizzes. You answer a bunch of questions about yourself, attach a photo so random strangers will know what you look like and frequently write down stuff that people may or may not be interested in reading.

However, from the perspective of a library assistant, I can see how it could be a convenient, easy-to-use tool for informing specifically targeted audiences of upcoming events and promotions, or even just general happenings. It's relatively quick to add a post or picture, so you would only need to set aside a few minutes on a regular basis to keep it up-to-date.
Well....here goes a first attempt at keeping a blog.
Hopefully, I'll be somewhat better at this than I am at keeping a diary.
First and foremost, I would like to say that I just realised that I have absolutely nothing to say.
So I guess I'll just experiment and play instead.....
